Joachim Rupp on Scale, Storage, and Solar’s Missing Link: Systems Thinking
Show notes
In this episode of the Soliverse Podcast, Peter sits down with Joachim Rupp—solar veteran, investor, and advisor—to explore what’s really holding the clean energy transition back: fragmented systems, missing talent, and the absence of true end-to-end thinking.
With two decades of experience across hardware, software, venture capital, and project development, Joachim shares why scaling solar in 2025 isn’t about the next shiny thing—it’s about connecting the dots across tech, teams, and timelines.
They discuss:
⚡ Why the grid, solar, storage, and HVAC must now be planned together
📊 What most developers get wrong about workflows and scale-ups
🌍 Lessons from the Baltics, Germany, and China on digital infra and execution
🚴♂️ How the “Journey to Zero” cycling movement is driving awareness and donations
🧠 Why the future of solar isn’t in panels—but in structure, capital, and team dynamics
🇪🇺 What Europe needs to learn from the U.S. and China to compete in renewables
🤖 How AI can solve solar’s biggest bottleneck: skilled labor and knowledge transfer
